A young man is murdered in the middle of the street in a popular Montreal district, during a seemingly ordinary quarrel.
A filmmaker on the look-out for a good subject for a film is interested in the crime. He meets and interviews the people closest to the victim, a group of young hoodlums. Moved by the reality of what he discovers but unable to record it on film, he urges them to stage a play based on their story.
Getting “a bunch of bums” involved in a creative piece is not an easy task. For Michelle, Maryse, Danielle, Dolores, Alain, Jacques, La Piquette and Jérome, violence, alcohol and drugs are a way of life. Through the creative act, they reveal the wretchedness of their world.
